________________________ Why I Built Why Are We Not Okay I built Why Are We Not Okay because I lived it. The pretending. The overachieving. The numbing. The “I’m fine” mask that fooled everyone - except the part of me quietly craving more than survival. I grew up in chaos. Divorced parents. Kicked out four times before I turned eighteen. I didn’t graduate. I went to jail. I learned early how to survive - not how to feel safe. I carried six out of ten ACEs before I even knew what that meant. Trauma wasn’t a word we used - it was just life. I became the girl who held it all together. The one who chased purpose, fixed people, and performed strength like it was love. I buried myself in “doing” so I didn’t have to feel what wasn’t working. I called it growth - but it was really self-abandonment in disguise. Then everything started to fall apart. Heartbreak. Burnout. Silence that got too loud. I had to face the truth: I’d built a life on survival, not self-trust. So I rebuilt - from the inside out. Not in any specific order - I came out as bi. I quit smoking. I turned vegan. I lost 40 pounds. I moved provinces. I started over, again and again, until the woman I became finally matched the one I’d been chasing all along. And somewhere in the middle of the mess, clarity clicked. Because once you finally understand why you feel stuck, you can start building a life that matches who you’ve actually become. That’s what Why Are We Not Okay is about. It’s not just healing work - it’s the bridge between your insight and your next chapter.
